I have been endorsed by the Long Island Federation of Labor! Over 250,000 union members here on Long Island support me for Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent.
In addition to being an active UFCW Local 1500 member, in my life, I have walked picket lines for many unions. My Uncle Jimmy had me on the picket line for the Teamsters in 1996 when King Kullen shut their warehouse down here on Long Island.
In 2011, I walked the picket line for Verizon in NYC with my Uncle Jimmy who is still a CWA 1105 member.
In 2013, I was a part of the Our Walmart project where I informed workers of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act and took part in protests to ensure that workers Section 7 rights were protected!
This year, in 2017, I was on the picket line with the Clare Rose workers. I ended up being on News 12, yelling slogans with my Uncle Jimmy (pictured below, far right) "what's disgusting, union busting" and "2, 4, 6, 8, come on let's negotiate!"
I have always advocated for workers whether as an attorney where I fight for workers' overtime wages or whether I am standing up for principles that believe are right by walking picket lines for workers. I am proud to be a UFCW member and to have the endorsement of the LI Federation of Labor.
Don't forget to vote for Anthony Portesy on Row 5 on November 7th for Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent! #LIFED #PortesyForHighway #VotePortesy #Brookhaven
