ANTHONY PORTESY ANNOUNCES 2019 CAMPAIGN FOR BROOKHAVEN TOWN HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT
Brookhaven, NY- February 4, 2019- Anthony R. Portesy, private practicing attorney, Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee Member, and Suffolk County Democratic Committee Member, proudly announces his second run for Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent in 2019 with the support of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee Executive Board.
In 2017, my campaign shook up Brookhaven as it was the closest campaign for Highway Superintendent in recent memory. Almost 40,000 voters showed their support and we showed the power of a true grassroots campaign with the support of voters of all political stripes. Brookhaven neighborhoods that haven’t seen a paving project in decades saw their neighborhoods getting the attention from the Highway Department after decades of neglect.
Many of the changes that I sought to bring to the Highway Department in 2017 have not been implemented. We need leadership at the Highway Department that will be transparent with your tax dollars and open up direct lines of communications to residents. Under Mr. Losquadro’s leadership, we have seen our infrastructure faulter with his empty promises and pleas from the community that have fallen on deaf ears.
Brookhaven deserves better leadership in our Highway Department and I will fight for all 483,000 residents to ensure that we are building our infrastructure for the 21st century. You deserve roads that last longer than 18 months before crumbling in the same spots as before, you deserve streetlights that don’t flicker for years on end, you deserve street signs that are replaced at the first signs of wear, but most importantly, you deserve a Highway Superintendent that listens to your concerns and has a plan to address them.
