ANTHONY PORTESY ANNOUNCES NYS ASSEMBLY ENDORSEMENTS
Brookhaven, NY- July 20, 2020- Anthony R. Portesy, Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee Member, Suffolk County Democratic Committee Member, and former political candidate for Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent announces his endorsements for the NYS Assembly.
Fred Ianacci For AD-5
Assembly District 5 is a blue collar district that has seen its middle class roots struggle under a higher and higher cost of living on Long Island. Without a representative that reflects those roots and more importantly, the values that come with it, we will continue to see young families leave Long Island for greener pastures. I know Fred very well and he ran for town council in the third council district in the Town of Brookhaven in 2017. There is no person who has a stronger grasp of the concerns of residents from water quality to road quality to school taxes than Fred. He is ready to hit the ground running. If you live in Holbrook, Holtsville, Ronkonkoma, Lake Ronkonkoma, Lake Grove, Centereach, Selden, Farmingville, as well as parts of North Patchogue, Islandia, and Stony Brook, vote for Fred on November 3, 2020.
Steve Polgar For AD-3
Assembly District 3 has been hit hard by many of the issues facing Long Island, namely the opiod crisis, rampant flooding from improper drainage infrastructure, and of course, horrible road infrastructure. The communities of Bellport, Brookhaven, East Patchogue, Coram, Farmingville, Gordon Heights, Mastic/Shirley, Medford, Middle Island, and Ridge need a guy like Steve who will fight to steer money away from NYC and to our communities here in Suffolk County. For too long the residents of Assembly District Three have had a representative who traffics in the politics of division than solving problems facing residents. On November 3rd, vote for a better future for AD-3, and vote for Steve Polgar!
Laura Jens-Smith for AD-2
Laura Jens-Smith is a familiar face, a former Town Supervisor of the Town of Riverhead. Assembly District 2 has significant issues that are unique compared to the other assembly districts, namely school districts on the East End needing more funding for their operations and repair. This district is the most diverse and includes a wide variety of towns from Aquebogue, Baiting Hollow, Calverton, Coram, Cutchogue, East Marion, East Shoreham, Fishers Island, Greenport West, Jamesport, Laurel, Manorville, Mastic, Mattituck, Middle Island, Miller Place, Mount Sinai, New Suffolk, Northville, Orient, Peconic, Ridge, Riverhead, Rocky Point, Shirley, Sound Beach, Southold, and Wading River. AD-2 needs a representative that understands the complex issues of this district and Laura is the woman ready to go to Albany and fight for you! Vote Laura Jens-Smith on November 3rd!
Steve Englebright for AD-4
Steve Engelbright doesn’t need my endorsement, but I admire him beyond words. In fact, a little story about Steve, he came to my AP-Politics course when I was a Senior at Newfield High School in 2004 and gave all of us “pocket constitutions”, a constitution that I still have to this day. Steve spoke of how he loved public service and he was always excited to bring environmental concerns to the floor of the Assembly. I never ever forgot that and he really inspired me when he came to visit my class that day.
Steve is the epitome of what a public servant is and what a public servant should be. I expect Steve to continue his advocacy for 4th Assembly district and I will be voting for him as I have every other November since I met him as a high school senior back in 2004.
With so much at stake this November, remember these names as you vote Brookhaven because Long Island's economic and environmental future depend on it.
